Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for a lead systems engineer in our Mission Systems Ground & Weapons SATNAV Systems department located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We are the premier provider of military positioning, navigation and timing solutions. This position leads projects specifically supporting our Modernized Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) products.
Our team is looking for a new member interested in solving complex problems and creatively designing advanced and alternative navigation systems. This individual will execute systems engineering design and development of PNT products and coordinate regularly with engineering and program management to ensure the success of the project. The successful candidate will have design and development experience in Systems Engineering and will lead a cross functional team specific to the project. This will include managing quality, cost, schedule, and scope as well as the various team dynamics present on project teams.
The successful candidate will have these Basic Qualifications:
Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline and 7 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience. In the absence of a degree 11 years of relevant experience is required.
Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance (US Citizenship required)
Experience with system requirements capture, design, and decomposition
Leadership as a part of program execution
Scope, cost and schedule analysis and management
Risk and opportunity management (identify, quantify, and mitigate risks)
Experience with systems tools (DOORS, JAMA, JIRA, etc.)
Time management skills – ability to work unsupervised, multi-task, and coordinate work
Effectively interact and build trust with team members from many different backgrounds, including engineering management, engineering teams, program management, and operations
Effective communication (written, verbal, and interpersonal)
Willingness to travel (domestic
Key skills for success:
Must excel working in a team environment and establishing collaborative relationships with coworkers.
Well organized and able to communicate effectively with team members, leadership, and customers.
Must have the desire to participate on a results-oriented engineering team, be highly motivated, and be self-directed.
Knowledge of or experience with Lean-Agile principles and Agile Teams.
Hands on experience with PNT solutions is preferred.
Earned value management and cost account management tools and metrics is a plus. (EPM, MS Project, ISAT, S-Curves, etc.)
