The selected candidate will manage a team of software and systems engineers responsible for the development, implementation, and support for various digital tools and systems. These systems are in support of the journey towards a smart factory environment with development roadmaps to an Industry 4.0 architecture.
The successful candidate will provide leadership and project execution direction for their team engaged in the project definition, architecture, requirements capture, design, development, integration, test, and support of overall Avionics manufacturing department activities. They will also coordinate with central operations, digital technologies, and other organizations on project schedules, development processes, and dependencies between applications as well as be capable of developing and conveying a technical approach to engineers and external customers, upper level engineering management, program management and business development, with minimal direct supervision. Responsibilities include project identification, estimation, planning, organizing, resource allocation, personnel development (training and mentoring), performance reviews, salary planning, and overall group management of a team. The candidate must demonstrate sound decision making skills, good communication skills, ability to collaborate with others, networking skills and accurately forecast project work and costs.
Group head responsibility and technical leadership for a group of engineers to ensure program commitments are met
Provides direction and is responsible (directly or through subordinate project leaders) for project planning and control
Participates in the budgetary planning process through identification of staffing, facilities, capital, and support needs
Provides skilled resources and supports organizational learning by broadening staff responsibilities and promoting the movement or resources through various aspects of definition and development
Responsible for management and performance of engineering resources to meet required deliverables
Leads a wide range of entry-level to highly experienced engineers
Works with team to ensure they follow certifiable or approved processes
Responsible for improving the organization’s technical competence and advancing state-of-the-art developments
Maintain awareness of technology and Company’s competitive position
Manages department costs to stay within approved levels (staffing, material, and operating budget)
Strives for 100% customer satisfaction
Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience. STEM degreed candidates highly preferred.
US Citizenship or Permanent Residence required.
Strong leadership and ability to lead a team
Strong team building skills, both internal and external to the team. (Must work well with other disciplines and with internal and external customers)
Experience in project planning, setting up project schedules, identifying staff to execute a project, hiring and developing staff, and ensuring that the team executes to the established budget and schedule
Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to interface with program management and executive management
Experience working with/managing offshore team(s)
Prior engineering project leadership and engineering management are desirable.
This position requires applicant to have an understanding of, and demonstrated experience in, project/program execution and estimating, requirements analysis and capture, design of real time systems, software integration, as well as engineering documentation.
This person must be a self-starter, be able to handle unexpected events, and take advantage of opportunities and events to achieve results that exceed expectations. This individual must be able to communicate with employees at all levels in the organization, must have excellent problem solving, data analysis and critical thinking skills.
