Mission Systems Autonomy Roadmap Lead
The Mission Systems Engineering Autonomy & Mission Engineering Solutions Department (AMES) is looking for a dynamic Engineering Lead to provide leadership supporting our Advanced Business area. This position will be responsible for pulling together the longer term technical roadmap and vision for Autonomous related systems and other Science and Technology investments and programs across Mission Systems.
This role will maintain interaction with business development, program managers, and a distributed engineering team. This role will be the primary Engineering Focal point for key internal customers and internal program/engineering management.
This position includes working across Collins Aerospace Engineering development teams to ensure successful project completion. Additional responsibilities will include customer interaction, and communication with department and program management. A successful candidate will have knowledge of earned value and schedule management, software and systems development process and practices, and experience leading diverse teams with competing objectives and internal strategies. The candidate must demonstrate sound decision making skills, strategic thinking, communication skills, networking skills, and able to accurately forecast project work and costs.
The selected candidate will work directly with engineers, perform project engineering and program management tasks when applicable, and interfacing with support organizations during the development of products. The candidate will work closely with Program Managers, Product Line / Program Management, Systems, Software, and support staff to assure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of a program’s lifecycle.
Candidate will lead the engineering team using strong interaction, interpersonal, mentoring and negotiating skills, and will be responsible for managing roadmap risks/issues and elevating to upper management when appropriate. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for adhering to, and supporting Rockwell Collins process methodologies while developing and managing commitments to meet project financial and schedule deliverables and quality requirements.
Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline, Experience with Rockwell Collins Fusion Avionics
Previous experience as a Systems Lead, Engineering Manager, or Technical Project Manager
Systems engineering experience (minimum 5 years)
Experience maturing systems from TRL 5 to TRL 7+
Experience developing IR&D plans and supporting Strategic & Financial Plans and Annual Operating Plans
Experience with model based systems engineering processes and tools
Experience developing roadmaps aligning developments with different colors of money, schedules, and technology baselines
Experience navigating confusing organizational boundaries and lines.
Candidates MUST have the following:
Project planning and execution on programs with more than 20 engineers
An Active US DoD security clearance and US Citizenship is required
Ability to travel 15%

Self-starter and have strong analytical skills.
System level test planning, configuration management and test execution.
