Waypoint Services for Women, Children and Families provides child care to approximately 600 children ages 0 to 12 years old. Waypoint also provides shelter and support to women and children in crisis because of homelessness, domestic violence or sexual assault. For over 100 years, Waypoint has been meeting the changing needs of women and children in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and surrounding rural areas.
Waypoint offers a competitive starting wage, for positions over 30 hours/week benefits including: health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, 401K, paid vacation and holidays; discounted child care in our onsite childcare center.
40 hours per week. Typical hours are Monday-Friday between 6:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Develop training opportunities for KidsPoint C Street teachers
Support and train teachers on the implementation and use of the Search Institute s 40 Developmental Assets
Organize field trips and special events
Provide support to teachers in regards to child/classroom behavior issues
Maintain a positive relationship with children and families
Support the Program Director with scheduling and supervising teachers
Assist with quality improvement initiatives
Comply with all regulatory agencies
Provide guidance, support, and structure for program and/or event volunteers

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Comply with all Waypoint policies and procedures as outlined in the Waypoint Employee Handbook
Follow Waypoint s confidentiality policy, including information regarding children, parents and staff
Be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the total work environment
Perform all other duties as assigned
Be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds
Possess excellent organizational and oral and written communication skills
Be confident in their abilities
Have a team-oriented leadership style in order to effectively work with and supervisor teachers in the program
An Associate s or Bachelor s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or Elementary Education with at least 5 years of work experience in a child care setting is required. Closely related degrees may be considered if child care experience includes at least 1 year of supervision/management.
Must meet the DHS requirements to become an on-site supervisor
Must possess an understanding of the dynamics of homelessness, child abuse, domestic violence, substance abuse, and mental illness and how these factors effect poverty and oppression
Must demonstrate a sensitivity to working with families of diverse racial and cultural backgrounds
